We are looking for an intern who can support Cultural Emergency Response (CER) in the implementation of its activities.

Tasks

The intern will assist in the implementation of CER’s emergency response mechanism and the Network of Regional Hubs with the following tasks:

  • Processing and researching incoming requests for support
  • Researching and mapping heritage, stakeholders, and threats in CER’s gap countries and focus regions
  • Providing administrative and logistics support for events and training
  • Helping to develop knowledge sharing platforms

The qualities  & qualifications we’re looking for 

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Multitasker
  • Strong affinity for cultural heritage and its protection
  • Currently following a bachelor's or master’s-level degree programme. Only currently enrolled students are able to apply
  • Good writing skills 
  • Studying background in a relevant field (international relations, development, culture, etc.)
  • Must be fluent in both spoken and written English. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage
  • Must be based in the Netherlands, with the possibility of commuting to our office in Amsterdam once or twice a week (hybrid)
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • We are especially interested in hearing from applicants who have experience with creating and/or contributing to open-source knowledge sharing platforms such as wikis
  • We are especially interested in hearing from applicants who have an academic focus and/or extensive knowledge about the following CER priority regions:
    • Central Africa
    • Western Africa & the Sahel
    • Eastern Africa
    • Southern Africa
    • Southern Asia
    • Southeastern Asia

Ideally, we are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team, is looking to take on some responsibility, can combine both in-depth and administrative tasks.

Compensation

CER provides remuneration of €500 gross per month based on a full-time internship (full time = 32 hours per week). CER will compensate travel costs directly related to the internship.

Start date & duration

We are looking for an intern to begin in November or December for a duration of 6 months. Working part-time is possible but with a minimum of three working days per week.
